Summer Camp

OUR 2025 SUMMER CAMP IS NOW FULL, NO WAITLISTS AVAILABLE.

Please check back next year for the 2026 Summer Camp.

Join us on an exciting adventure, exploring both land and sea alongside our education and volunteer coordinator and a team of rocky shore interpreters.

For five days, campers will turn into budding scientists exploring various habitats found in Cannon Beach.

  • Haystack Rock: Campers will get their feet wet while exploring the tidepools at Haystack Rock. Campers will also closely observe birds, exploring their nesting habitats and behaviors.

  • Ecola Creek Forest Reserve: Campers will join our education and volunteer coordinator on a nature walk through the Ecola Creek Forest Reserve. Campers will learn about local flora and fauna through hands-on exploration as well as arts and crafts activates.

  • Estuary: Campers will learn about the importance of estuaries and our local watershed by assisting our education and volunteer coordinator in collecting water samples.

Camper Expectations

Etiquette: Throughout the week, campers will be visiting sensitive & protected natural areas. Campers will be expected to be adaptable to respected guidelines set forth about appropriate behavior in the various locations we visit.

Behavioral Guidelines: Ensuring the safety and ensuring a positive experience for our campers is our utmost priority. In cases where it's necessary to address behavior that poses a risk or disrupts fellow campers, our staff will take disciplinary measures. These measures may involve discussing the issue to identify the problem and find a solution. If the behavior persists, HRAP reserves the right to exclude campers from certain activities. Parents/guardians will be promptly informed if any disciplinary action is required.

Campers will hike up to the forest reserve, take the Cannon Beach Nature Trail to Ecola Creek, and hike down the beach to Haystack Rock. For the safety of all participants, we need campers to be able to follow leader's directions at all times. We have ~3/1 ratio of camper to staff, and expect campers to transport themselves independently while always staying close to their helper.

Camp Medical and Emergency Policies

Campers will play and explore during camps, so minor injuries such as skinned knees can occur. Staff members certified in first aid will treat injuries according to their discretion. Parents or guardians will also be notified in these instances.

Should a serious injury or illness occur, emergency personnel will be promptly notified, followed by immediate contact with parents/guardians. Please be aware that camp staff will exercise their discretion in administering treatment for injuries and/or illnesses.

If your child has symptoms such as fever, runny nose or eyes, cough, sneeze, stomach pain, active rash, diarrhea, sore throat and/or nausea we ask they remain at home. If a child becomes ill during camp, they will be separated from the other campers and kept comfortable while we notify parent/guardian/emergency contact.
